The Graduate School of International Management (GSIM) at the International University of Japan (IUJ) is seeking to hire a full-time faculty member for the following position, with an expected start date of September 2025:

Position: Assistant/Associate Professor of Finance

Qualified candidates must be capable of teaching MBA-level courses in English, and have the capability to teach some of finance related subjects listed as follows but not limited to:

  • Machine Learning
  • Data Mining
  • Corporate Finance
  • Portfolio Management
  • Venture Finance
  • Quantitative Investment and Financial Data Analysis
  • Derivatives and Risk Management

Japanese language abilities are desirable, yet not required for this position.

Candidates must hold a Ph.D. in Finance by the time of appointment. The fresh Ph.D. or mid-career financial analysist are welcomed. The candidate should have a demonstrated research agenda and teaching excellence, and must be student-oriented, enjoy participating in collaborative research activities.

Those candidates who are familiar with data analytics will be given priority. Experience and/or an interest in Japan/Asia region is a good plus.

Compensation

A contract-based compensation is commensurate with academic accomplishments and experience. For example, the starting salary level for an Assistant Professor is 7 million JPY. The faculty member is to offer four courses per academic year, 105 contact hours teaching load.

An appointee is also expected to conduct high-level research, contribute administratively, and compete for external funds.
